Function of the Audio Files

For each of the book’s chapters, the text has been spoken by a speech synthesis program (similar to the one used on Kindle devices).

You will still need to study the book in printed or electronic form, for example to see the graphics and tables. But you may find it helpful to listen to the audio files before, during, or after your reading of the text.

It may seem strange and difficult at first, but with some practice you may be able to do a good deal of the studying of the chapters using just the audio files – for example, while walking through the woods. It’s a good idea to press the “Pause” button occasionally to think about what you have just listened to.

Available Formats

Two formats are currently offered:

  • A ZIP archive with about 50 to 100 short MP3 files
  • A single MPEG-4 Audio Book File (with extension “m4b”), which can be used, for example, as an audio book on an iPhone.

If some other format would be useful, it may be possible to add it.
