Except when there is overlap with a holiday, there will be two lectures each week at the following times:
- Tuesday, 16:15–17:45, Room 00
- Wednesday, 14:15–15:45, Room 001 in Building E1 3
The lectures will be related fairly closely to the chapters of the textbook. The instructors will supplement the material in the textbook with examples and insights from their own experience in research and practice and from recent research conducted by others.
The order in which the material is treated in the lectures will differ from the order in the textbook.
Practical Exercises
In the practical part of the course, students will contribute to the evaluation and extension of a web-based user interface that is being developed in an ongoing research project. Working in small teams, they will perform various activities typically involved in user interface design, such as observing and interviewing users, eliciting requirements, and designing improvements and extensions to the user interface.
Components of the Grade
The overall grade will be determined by three components, which will have approximately equal weight:
- the practical exercises;
- regular short tests that are designed to ensure that students read the assigned chapters regularly;
- the 90-minute final exam, which will be held shortly after the end of the course and which will call for application of knowledge from all parts of the course.
